New Year’s Turf Resolutions

A Better Year and Healthier Turf Start Now

The New Year brings about new challenges and new opportunities in the turf industry. And like a nice tee shot on Hole #1, it feels good to start the year off on the right foot. Whether you’re rebounding from a not-so-great year, or if you just want to improve on the success you’ve already had, we have some ideas on how to make 2017 a good one.

We have some universal “resolutions” for you, but everyone’s situation is a little different. So, we also want to hear what you will be doing different in your specific circumstances.

But first, here are some resolutions that you can keep in mind as you manage your turf this year in any application:

  1. Have a Plan

As the saying goes, “failing to prepare is preparing to fail.” As spring approaches—or if you’re in a warm weather climate—you can’t let Mother Nature sneak up on you. Look back on previous years and determine where you’d like to make changes in your turf management.

Pre-emergent weed control (found in both our ProScape fertilizer and Leb Pro fertilizer) is a great example of how you can stay a step ahead of your turf problems. If your turf is under siege by snow mold or extreme weather conditions, you can also find a LebanonTurf seed blend that is resistant to it. Talk to your LebanonTurf sales rep, and they’ll help you game plan for a good year.

  1. Be Able To Adapt

No matter how foolproof your plan is, don’t etch it in stone just yet. We see it every year. Some regions are warmer than normal, some are drier than normal, and so on. And the truth is, you can’t perfectly predict the weather. So you have to adapt quickly.

We wrote a blog post last year about how you can combine slow-release applications and foliar nutrients to get the best of both worlds. That’s what we’re suggesting here. Even when you’re using long-lasting nutrients, be ready to supplement with something like Emerald Isle Solutions. That way, when it rains too much (or not enough), or when it’s too cold or hot, you’ll be prepared to fight back.

  1. Be Smart With Your Resources

You might think about budgets when you see this one, but that’s just part of it. We’re talking about everything: your water usage, your equipment and even your staff. When you’re making that plan, think about how best to use your resources. Some of our products combine multiple benefits (which save labor time and reduce applications).

We also have products that help save water, and then we also have a new E-Blend product that’s more affordable AND better for the environment. Make the most of 2017 and everything in it.

  1. Identify Your #1 Enemy And Fight Back

Enemies are always out there. Disease, insects, weather. There are many, but one of these probably keeps you up at night more than the others. 2017 is the year to attack it head-on.

Many LebanonTurf products target specific pests or problems and they equip your turf to win the battle. Grubs, drought and disease are no match for you this year.
