August 2023: Spear

Spear is a 6 month old border collie. He started working at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course in Magnolia Delaware when he was just 8 weeks old. From day one his favorite job on the golf course has been playing with the sprinklers. He is our only weapon we have to keep flocks of geese off the property. Including a very stubborn, resident goose that would chase golfers off a tee box next to a pond. The club’s golfers reward all of his hard work by carrying treats with them and spoil him whenever they get the chance to see Spear. In his free time Spear likes to endlessly play with his toys and attempt to play with his matching black and white cat sister. He is a great morale boost for our maintenance team and has been a great addition to our staff.

Michael Cocino is a first year Superintendent at Jonathan’s landing. A 12 year member of the GCSAA and has been waiting 12 years to be in a position to bring a dog to work and submit photos for the calendar. Mike studied Turfgrass Science at Penn State University. In his free time Mike likes to fish, snowboard, cook and read.
