Tree Inoculation Program

Principle: Extensive research has proven that the presence of abundant mycorrhizae and beneficial rhizosphere bacteria greatly improves the survival, growth rate, and disease resistance of plants compared to plants lacking these. This is particularly true for plants growing in stressed or degraded sites, urban environments, drought conditions, and compacted soils. The following treatment program combines these beneficial microbes with micronutrients, slow-release fertilizers, and organic soil conditioners to improve transplant survival and long-term health of trees and shrubs.

1. Purpose:       Pre-inoculation of Trees being lifted
   Products:     ROOTS Injectable For Trees, ROOTS BioPak Plus 3-0-20
   Rate:             0.5-lb (Injectable). 1-lb BioPak Plus per 50 gallon tank.
   Technique:  Inject 1 quart into Root ball every 1 foot along circumference.
   Frequency:  Immediately after lifting at the nursery.
   
   
2. Purpose:      Installation of Trees—Soil Injection Technique
   Products:     ROOTS Injectable For Trees, ROOTS BioPak Plus 3-0-20
   Rate:             0.5-lb (Injectable). 1-lb BioPak Plus per 50 gallon tank.
   Technique:  Inject 1 quart per injection every 1 foot along perimeter of planting hole, no more than 1 foot from edge of root ball.
   Frequency:  Immediately after planting.
   
   
3. Purpose:       Installation of Trees-Granular Technique
   Products:     ROOTS TreeSaver, ROOTS Healthy Start 12-8-8 Macro Tablets
   Rate:             Use 3-oz per foot diameter of root ball (Tree Saver). Use three 7-gram tablets for each ½-inch caliper size of tree.
   Technique:  Mix TreeSaver evenly into upper 8 inches of soil around root ball. Place tablets into upper 4-inches of soil about 2-inches from root ball edge.
   Frequency:  Immediately after planting.
   
   
4. Purpose:       Recovery of Trees—Injection Technique
   Products:     ROOTS Injectable For Trees, ROOTS BioPak Plus 3-0-20
   Rate:             0.5-lb (Injectable). 1-lb BioPak Plus per 50 gallon tank.
   Technique:  Inject 1 quart per injection on 2.5-foot centers beneath the canopy.
   Frequency:  To Reverse Decline.
   
   
5. Purpose:       Recovery of Trees—Granular Technique
   Products:     ROOTS M-Roots 3-3-3
   Rate:             Use 4-oz per each vertimulch core.
   Technique:  Apply as a vertimulch on 2-foot centers beneath canopy.
   Frequency:  To Reverse Decline.
